              Assalamualaikum and Salam UiTM di  hatiku to all my blog readers

Name given is MUHAMMAD FAIZUL NURRAHMAT BIN MAFFAZUDDIN. The opportunity was given from UiTM to continue my study at the UiTM Jengka, Pahang. I am currently further my study by undergraduate in Diploma in planting management. My code program is AT 110.

I has been directed by lecturer to complete a portfolio about subject UED 102 or called Soft Skills. Deeply in my heart I am so glad because I can share the reality independent living in university to next batch student to make a preparation before they get into university.

UED 102 is a flow for a new student to synchrozie their schedule effectively by managing time, setting goals, learning styles, learning strategies, and processing information from lectures which would be usefull for academic demands at the tertiary level.

*Leaving secondary school and making a moves to university is a big adjustment for student. They need to mentally prepare to facing the big differences between before and after get into university. They need to upgrade their childish attitude to independently survive in adults world and be matured to making decission according to their age.

Education is necessary and everyone have a right to same level of education, but somehow there are a few student who are extraordinary intelligent.

This kind of student will be label by lecturer as a successfull student because they also usually high achievers in extracurricular activities.

As a normal student, stay positive and keep on pressure to achieve goals in a different ways, by keeping a successfull characteristics as student in ourselves.

*Learning Styles are the way of student adapt the informations from lecturer in class session. Each students has their own style and needs to be sharpened to make an easier learning progress.

Characteristics of Visual, Kinesthetic And Auditory Modes

  • Visual learners need to see information. If your preferred is visual, you have strong visualization skills and can remember objects, shapes, and pictures. You learn by reading and watching videos, and demonstrations. You can see pictures in your mind.
  • Auditory learners need to hear information. If your prefered style is auditory, you have a “good ear” and can hear differences in rhythm and tones. Reading out loud will be beneficial. You can remember what you hear in a lecture.
  • Kinesthetic learners needs to be physically active and doing things. If yor preferred style is kinesthetic, you are a hands-on learner. You have good coordination andlearn by doing. You generally have an active approach to learning.

#My highest score are visual and kinesthetic. So I prefered to learn by watching videos and hands-on learner.

Strategies to have an idea of the important role senses play in the learning process.

Create mind maps, flow charts, and diagrams using bright colors. Place them at your frequent way you always walk. After a textbook, make a summary and read it out aloud. Cut up charts and diagrams using your hands. Create a shining card and move them around, sweeping movements.
Build your visual memory. Record important words from lecture and keep listening to your rewinding constantly. Recite the information as long as you free.
Rewrite your notes using different colour papers Have a group discussion with your friends. Use your muscle memory to write the information.

*What is goal?

Goal is a desired results envisioned by a person or a group and accompanied by an effort aimed at achievement.

^ SPECIFIC GOALS ^

-Use very specific language to describe a goal. Do not use set very vague and unclear goals cause it usually will end up accomplishing.

^ MEASUARABLE GOALS ^

-Having a goal that are measurable will help student to stay on the track which is will help to achieve goal.

^ ATTAINABLE ^

-Goals should drag student out from comfort zone but they should have a path for achieving them. Most student make a changsover along period of time.

^ RELEVANT ^

-Make sure that your goals are relevant to your overall plan for your life. Do not make a waste of your time by making unbeneficial goal that is not worth your time. Goals must aligns to at least some high level with the other goals, to provide benefits to your life.

^ TIME ^

-Time is more valuable than goal. You should learn how to manage your time by make a time period that are filled by beneficial preparation before achieve your goal.

*USING THE LEARNING SYSTEM (LMS)*

  • LMS is a software application that allows instructors to create, track, report and deliver courses to students.
  • In UiTM, the LMS is called i-learn.
  • i-Learn aims to help students increase the skills of technology use, and improve knowledge acquisition and informatin sharing.
  • i-Learn is spesific for those who related to UiTM such as sudents and staff

*OPTIMISING STUDY TIME*

As students, time is priceless. Everyday should be a tiring day for them because they need to done their assignment before due date, do a early preparation before exam, do a daily routine work and go to lecture. Students should optimising their time independently.

Here are the strategies on how to develop a successful system of study:

  1. Reduce inteference.
  2. Use a weekly schedule.
  3. Use a daily planner.
  4. Use a semester calendar.
  5. Balance academic with social and personal demands.
  6. Avoid procrastination.
  7. Take notes while studying.
  8. Take advantage on down time

As a student, we need to always catch up on university updates. For that reason, we need to make a schedule or time table to make sure we can manage our time effectively, so we wont end up getiing tierd and take a fully rest when weekend comes.

Here is my daily schedule as a preparation before facing my first semester.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks to getting things done is motivation. Not all students motivated to running their schedule like how they motivated while planning the schedule.

Motivated is needed in each university student because we are independetly living here. To keep motivated, we need to be close with a positive friends.

Based on Abi Burdah Bin Abu Musa, Rasulullah said, The likeness of those who are friends with the righteous and those who are friends with the bad-tempered like the perfumer and the blacksmith. You will definitely get the fragrance from the perfume seller whether you buy it or not. Whereas from the blacksmith you will feel the smell or the fabric or you will have an unpleasant odor. ” (HR Bukhari No: 1959) Status: Valid Hadith

A few tips from me on how to stay motivated.

*REDUCING PROCRASTINATION*

It is a common for student being lazy at their leisure time. However, this behaviour should getting rid from student. Especially, when their assingnment pile up and the test is coming.

Why students procrastinate? Most students admit they would like to avoid procrastinate cause it will disturb their rest times and hurt their grades.

It is important for students to know the places to deal in university. Students should know how to go to certain places such as classes for lecture or student welfare for student affairs.

Me and my team from group 5 made a video in Uitm Jengka. In the video we showed our main faculty such faculty Planting Management and Agriculture, and also Uwais al-Qarni and library.

I believe, everyone has experienced when you feels like to do something, but in the same time you forgot what it is. This is why we need a memory strategies to avoid us or student from always forget especially an important information.

*UNDERSTANDING CONCENTRATION*

To understand something new or to comlplete any task, student need to cocentrate to make sure whatever we done is perfect.

By the way, what is concentration? Concentration is an ability of mind for a human to focus on a subject or anything that person is doing. Everyone have their own concentration level. Those who have the high concentration level able to understand new information easily rather than the other who have a low level of concentration.

For student who have low level of concentration, they don’t hve to worry because every matter has a solution.

Concentration are mostly related to psychology. In other meaning, when your psychology is in a stable condition, it is easier to concentrating.

Why taking notes?

  • Help us give more attention when lecture.
  • As a preparation before facing quiz or test.
  • Help student to do revisions.

There are two different kind of student we usually met in university, which is the struggle one and the smart one.

The smart one, they usually use method to make a simple note but easy to understand.

I am choosing two column merhod because the note need to tell the rader about the differencen between monocot and dicot plant.

As a reader, the information on the two column method is easy to read because the arrangement is so neat and easy to understand

Plagiarism is an attitude which is student shouldn’t have have with them. Plagiarism is more to “copy” or “stealing” another person’s idea. Usualy, someone whoa are doing plagiarims will hardly try to protect themselves by keep lying.

CGPA stands for Culmulative Grade Point Average. CGPA is different than Gpa because CGPA calculate grades for the whole semester for your course while GPA only calculate grades for each semester.
